Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Meet Baby Girl!
1. Describe cuddling behavior/affection level: She loves belly rubs.
2. Describe play behavior and favorite toys: She has shown some interest in a tennis ball.
3. Describe activity level: Very little. When I first got her, she would take about 6 steps and sit down, or lay down. We are working on getting the weight off of her and she can now walk more which she seems to enjoy. Hoping that will help.
4. Look into the animal’s eyes. What is he/she telling you? I love you, and I am safe and I love my new cozy bed.
5. What are the best adjectives to describe them? Sweet, loving, mild mannered.
6. What does the animal specifically DO that exemplifies those adjectives (ex. Maybe a good adjective for the dog is “loving”. You know that because he lays his head in your lap.) She likes to lean in to me when she is standing or outside on the patio while I am spending time with her.
7. What are the animal’s best qualities? Sweet, loving, mild mannered, housebroken.
8. What are your favorite things about him or her? Cute behaviors? Lays on her back waiting for a belly rub. She is sweet, loving, mild mannered, and housebroken.
9. What is/are your favorite physical characteristic(s) of this of this animal? She likes to lay on her back and will grab my hand or arm with her paw. With regular baths, her coat is now soft and shiny. (She is missing a lot of hair due to previously untreated low thyroid. She has a heart shaped area on her tail which makes her unique.)
10. What would the ideal home look like for him/her? A home with somebody very patient with her and will spend the time giving her baths every 2-3 days for fungal infection caused by previously untreated low thyroid, somebody who will be willing to administer multiple doses of medication throughout the day, someone who understands that she is overweight and be willing to provide the proper nutrition and exercise and someone who will be her advocate for the care she needs and deserves.
11. Anything else that would make this animal stand out to an adopter?
Medical/Behavior Issue
1. Any medical issues? Low thyroid which she takes daily medication for, hip dysplasia, old cruciate ligament injuries on both knees that were not healed correctly which makes walking and sitting / getting up difficult (this has gotten a little better with the correct pain medications), 2 spindle cell carcinomas on her left leg, fungal infection due to previously untreated thyroid issues and because she is overweight.
2. Any behavior issues? None.
3. Any other special concerns? She is still in the process of getting stabilized on her medications. She is not food motivated whatsoever. Some days she eats well and others she is not interested in eating.
