Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Fletcher is a big handsome boy with a striking set of mismatched eyes. Heterochromia, where a dog has two different colored eyes, is particularly common in Huskies. That fits, since we think Fletcher is a Husky mix! Fletcher recently spent several months in a foster home where we learned so much about this very good boy:

“This boy just wants to be loved. He's a huge couch sleeper, sleeps with me at night, and cuddles when you call him over. There is only the look of love in his eyes. He knows sit, stay, lay down, shakes paws, and waits when I put his food down. Someone clearly loved him and trained him. He wants to please his owner. He does have a lot of energy but that's the husky in him. He rides great in my SUV- he typically lays down and goes to sleep. We have been to parks, mountains, and Home Depot. He's done great everywhere. He is a regular at Tucson Rescue Now TRN, on weekends. He's a huge love bug.

If you’ve seen The Call of the Wild movies, this boy looks just like Buck, the main dog character!! He’s a great dog! Very smart and eager to please, very people friendly, housebroken, loves adventures and car rides, does well at the groomers and vet, and of course loves treats. Fletcher is awesome. Please help me find him his forever home!”

Fletcher was housebroken and crate trained during his stay in foster and was well- behaved when left home alone. Here’s what volunteers at the shelter have said about Fletcher:

“Fletcher is sweet guy. He wagged his tail for praise and took treats nicely. Although this was my first time meeting him, he quickly pressed close against my legs, seeking comfort. A very sweet dog.”

“Today was my second time walking Fletcher. He was initially a little nervous on our first walk but gained confidence quickly. He was much more relaxed for our second walk. He is strong and enthusiastic, and pulled at the start of the walk, but once away from the noise and distractions of the shelter his pace relaxed and he took his time to explore his surroundings. He has great engagement with his partner (checks in regularly, good eye contact), is comfortable with touch and has a gentle mouth. We had to wait for a few moments to allow traffic to pass while returning to the shelter, and he sat calmly at my side. Return to his own kennel was easy and he entered without any hesitation. I look forward to taking him out again soon.”

“Fletcher was smiley and had a waggy tail when I approached his kennel. He happily accepted treats and I opened he door to leash him. He was easy to leash and leave the kennel area with. He kept tension on the leash as we walked around the lake. He sat perfectly for treats and took them nicely from my hand too. Return to kennel was easy. I entered with him and easily unleashed. He is adjusting more to the shelter and seems a little more relaxed. Very good boy!”

When meeting other dogs in playgroup Fletcher has been playful and social. He’s a high energy boy and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Ask to meet Fletcher today!
