Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Punchy is a bouncy, playful, friendly boy who lived in a home for about a year before being surrendered to the shelter. Unfortunately, Punchy was kept as an outdoor only pet, so one requirement for Punchy’s future home is that he is allowed indoors to be a real part of the family. Punchy lived with other dogs and kids and was said to be friendly with all people. Here’s what his volunteer friends have said:

“Punchy is a favorite of mine and I take him out every chance I get. He is a bouncy happy boy. He has a nice sit and walks well on his leash. He loves to run laps and zoomies in the yard. He loves affection and is happy to take a break from zooming to get some love! Definitely meet this boy- he is wonderful!”

“Punchy is a playful and puppy-like pal. On our walk, Punchy loved sniffing and exploring while keeping a comfortably relaxed length in the leash. He responded well to verbal direction or very gentle pressure to go a different direction. He will "sit" for treats. A smart guy who seems to respond well to structure. Friendly and comfortable with pets, too. What a good boy, Punchy!”

“Punchy was easy to leash and leave the kennel area with as usual. We had a nice walk together and he checked in with me often. We sat down for a little bit and he immediately put his butt in front of me, expecting lots of butt scratches. Those are definitely the way to his heart! He returned the favor with a few sweet kisses to my cheek too.”

“I take Punchy out first thing in the morning. He walks on a loose leash 90% to 100% of the time and sits for treats, which he takes gently. He has become one of my favorite dogs to walk.”

Punchy would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home and is looking for a home without small dogs or other small pets. Ask to meet Punchy today!!
