You know that whole adage, don't judge a book by it's cover? Let's refer to that in this instance, but in shelter terms of 'don't judge a dog by how they present in their kennel'. Case study in particular, Dexter... this lovable guy is like a teen who's been grounded for the weekend when he is in his kennel. He is simply longing to get out and have fun by just being a dog, so you may see him acting as such if you meet him ONLY there. May we suggest meeting him outside of that, because once out of his kennel, he is the REAL Dexter! And oh what a love bug!! This sweet and lovable guy is big in stature and personality!! He is a great walking companion, he is great on a leash and will check back once in a while to make sure you are still there at which point he remembers how excited he is that you are! When he gets excited, he does what all dogs do and that is start to jump up, but will get down immediately with correction. This gorgeous boy is 4 years old and is a beautiful silver color lab mix, who weighs 72 pounds. Although his eyes may be fixed in two different places (which we LOVE), he can focus on just what he needs to. He is housebroken, playful, loves attention and cuddles! He did great in a crowd of hundreds of people, stopping and gently accepting all the pets he could. For more information on Dexter, please come meet him in person. We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.
