Today I: Took a ride in a car. I eagerly got in, although it was a bigger car, so I needed a little help getting in. I was happy to leave the shelter but a bit nervous and my tummy was upset so I got a little bit carsick. Once out of the car, my new friends and I went for a nice long walk, 5 Miles along a very scenic trail.

We saw people, bikes, and some dogs. My friends did a great job distracting me when I saw other dogs because I can get a little riled up and vocal when I see dogs I don’t know. Birds, squirrels and lizards are easy for me to ignore. I am not super treat-motivated and enjoy doing my own thing. I am respectful of the person at the other end of my leash so I walk nicely (loose Leash) most of the time.
We took some selfies so my potential adopters can see how handsome I am!

Three Words to Describe Me are: Sweet, calm and gentle
Notes from My Walker: Doug was a joy to take out of the shelter. He was easy to harness and happy to get outside. He was eager to get in the backseat of the car but needed a little back end assistance. He walked calmly on the leash, sniffing and leaving a few messages for other K9 walkers. He would like to be an ‘only dog’ in the household as he LOVES his people but is unsure of other dogs. He can easily be distracted or re-routed when you see another dog walking your way. He loved sitting and watching the birds at the end of our walk, giving intermittent kisses and leaning up against me. He is a great social media poser with his piercing blue eyes, such a handsome fella. He is still young and strong so he needs regular walks/outings. He will make some lucky human(s) very happy!

Today I: went to Shady Oaks Park and I had the best time sniffing along the trail and enjoying being outside in the sunshine!

Three Words to Describe Me are: Gentle, Sweet, Affectionate
Notes from My Walker:
This was Doug’s first Dog Day Out! He hopped right into the car and sat quietly and watched other cars out the window. He’s not jumpy, doesn’t pull on leash and is medium energy. So is Doug the perfect dog?! Well, he’s a little dog reactive. Nothing unmanageable - we asked other dog owners to give us space as we passed and kept moving and if a dog had no reaction to him, then he was totally fine. If a dog had some words, then he gave words back! Understandable. Doug would love to be the only animal in a home to get all the attention and loves. He did great on our 5 mile walk and when we stopped for water breaks, he’d come up and lean his body into me and give kisses. I can also see him being a big cuddler on the couch and he’s a dog that would be able to relax after a walk. Doug’s such a sweetheart and is waiting for his human(s) to bring him home so he can cuddle up with them!

Doug – A1318196
Doug is a handsome husky and pit bull mix with striking topaz eyes that will pierce your soul. Doug enjoys long walks with his humans and prefers to be the only dog in your life. He loves good food and giving big hugs. Doug likes cats but cats don’t like him, so he will need to be the only pet.
