03/30/24 13:01 -Tom now responds to Rocky, is a high energy pup who loves walks, runs, and hikes -When you are done fopr the day he loves to lay on the couch or lay on his dog bed -He has been learning basic commands like sit, down, stay for short periods of time -He prefers kibble over wet food -He has socialized with members of the family and my families german shepperd. It is best for him to continue to meet new people outside of the home then bringing them in after having spent some time together. -He is vocal when excited and is being worked on currently -Its best that he is not greeted with lots of excitement as it makes it difficult to calm him down. Meeting him with neutral enrgy while allowing him to inspect and come up to you as hes comfortable has proved to work the best. 01/05/24 In foster: - Tom has been the sweetest boy. He loves belly rubs and enjoys his walks - Tom is super excited to receive you. His nature is naturally happy. Additionally he loves to take naps next to you or when watching tv during the day - He is very smart! On the first day of fostering, we restricted him from going upstairs and he obeyed! No need for a pet gate, he knows to wait downstairs - Sleeps in crate at night without any issues, no barking and patiently waits for you to come to let him out in the morning - Tom enjoys his morning and evening walks. He walks great and is curious about his surroundings, just a tug to lead him in your direction and you got a great walking partner.Hesitant at first, Tom was cautious about car rides however, after the second day, he loves them now! Haven’t gone more than an hour car ride, but he’s done exceptionally well! - Working on getting him used to daily brushing, he only handles about 5 minutes before pushing away. Gets slightly vocal when he wants to play (nothing excessive though, just one bark to get your attention) - Very social with people so far, receives treats well from others (i.e PetSmart cashier). Is skittish around groups of people, better to introduce individually AJ 12/11/23 13:26 Able to take out of kennel and leash with no issues. While out in yard, dog had loose body posture, would roll over and lean against handler seeking attention. Allows pets and full handling. Has been in playgroups with other like sized dogs and has done well. Can be vocal when playing. DT 10/04/23 08:57 Reason animal needs rescue: Length of stay, declining mental state, behavior concerns (see notes below) Type: Behavior Date animal needs rescue by: ASAP Impound type: Stray Off stray hold: Yes Additional notes: No known medical issues. High energy, kennel stress, gets overstimulated when brought outside. SD Summary of behavior: 07/30/23 09:44 Today was out of kennel, lunging and airsnapping whenever trying to move dog on leash. Then becomes affectionate trying to solicit pets and climbing in lap. Tried to pick up to carry back to kennel, dog starting lunging at me snapping at my hands and snapping at my pant leg. Was able to move back into kennel with leash, did calm down once back in kennel. Dog appears to be declining in shelter. ERobinson 07/22/23 16:41 Reason animal needs rescue: Needs rescue due to extended shelter stay Impound type: Stray AJ 07/19/23 13:21 Sociability: Shy initially, loose body posture when with handler. Food/Treats: Uninterested at the time Kennel Presence: Does not want to leave kennel, however once out of kennel will take a couple steps. Does not like walking on leash.DT 06/16/23 13:57 Per RP, dog would not get out from under her vehicle. Everytime she tried shooing him away, the dog would snap and growl loudly. Upon arrival, the RP had given the dog hot dogs in an attempt to win the dog over; however, the behavior only got worse as he was possessive over the food. As soon as the dog saw my catch pole, he immediately stepped into defensive action with biting the pole and wire. AC61 Dog has been on needs rescue since: 07-30-23 Dog has been on Urgent Status since: 07-30-23 |
