Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Red is a handsome young pup who needs out of the shelter and into a home where he can learn all about being part of a loving family! Shy when he first came to the shelter, Red has come so far and is ready for the next chapter of his life. Here’s what volunteers have said about him:

“First time walking Red. We headed for the nearest door so he could get away from all the kennel noise. We first went to the play yard so he could explore on his own, then we resumed our walk. He was nervous for the first few minutes, but gradually started to relax. When we reached a quiet area where we were by ourselves, his tail came up and he was soon exploring all the interesting scents. He would startle at loud noises and sudden movement, but I felt like he was slowly gaining trust. We had the path to ourselves on the far side of the lake, and he continued to explore with a loose body and wagging tail. Red is rather overwhelmed in the shelter, but in this first walk he showed me what a fine dog he can be once he forms a trusting relationship with his human partner. I look forward to taking him out again soon.”

“First time walking Red today and he's indeed sweet but nervous. Didn't have issues with touch and loved snacks! I hope he'll find an adopter/foster soon.”

“I've walked Red several times now. have found him easy to walk.
I think he would make a really nice friend for someone who can be patient and gentle with him.”

“Red is a very sweet somewhat skittish pup. He was easy to leash and walk. It seemed like he wanted affection but is still building confidence. He loves to sniff and doesn’t seem reactive to anything on his walks- a squirrel was right in front of him and he didn’t react. He takes treats with a soft mouth. The longer we were out the closer he got to me. Very sweet boy.”

Red has shared his kennel at times and was easygoing, social, and playful during his most recent trip to playgroup. Meet and greets with any resident dogs are always a good idea. Ask to meet Red today!!
