Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Sammy is a sweet senior who lived in one home with his brother Max since they were six weeks old. Sadly, at 9 years old they were surrendered to the shelter. Sammy was adopted but recently turned back up at the shelter as a stray. We’re heartbroken to see this lovely old man back in the shelter and are hoping to find him a new retirement home soon!! No dog deserves to be in the shelter, but especially not our sweet senior citizens- Sammy really deserves to live the rest of his life in luxury!!

Sammy’s former owner said that he loves to cuddle and loves attention, and Sammy has proved that to every volunteer he’s met (and that’s a lot of volunteers!) This boy walks well on leash, loves pets and snuggles, and is an all- around happy go lucky old man with plenty of pep in his step.

Here’s what a couple of Sammy’s friends have said about him:

“I took Sammy home for several days. Sammy was very well behaved living in our guest house. He readily jumps into cars and settles down for rides and he walks well on a leash. Will WORK for apples!”

“Sammy was a wiggly, bouncy, happy guy today. I walked decided to take him to the play yard since he seemed very energetic. Turns out that Sammy loves squeaky toys! He enjoyed playing fetch with a squeaky round ball and shaking it around. Happily came over for affection and sought out more pets.”

“I really love Sammy. He is easy to handle and does well on walks. He is affectionate and enjoys attention, and loves to give kisses. This handsome senior will make a great addition to the right home!”

When meeting other dogs in playgroup, Sammy was social and tolerant. He initiated and engaged in play and was an overall good boy. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Please ask about this very sweetest of old men today!!
