From Dulce De Leche's foster mom: She is very loving once she is comfortable but snippy when afraid. Her original owner died and Dulce was left on the property without food or water for about 2 weeks. She was very fearful and did not do well at BARC. Dulce has advanced heartworm disease and enlarged heart. BARC says she's too old to do the normal heartworm treatment. took her to an outside vet (River Flow Vet Hospital), they agree with BARC's diagnosis. The vet prescribed 2 meds to keep her comfortable, telling me Dulce will need to stay on these meds the rest of her life. The vet added cough tabs to her prescription.
