Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Fawna is a friendly little hippo who is not cut out for shelter life. I mean, who is? But for our smart pups like Fawna, life in a kennel is particularly hard. Fawna would love to find a home with an active person or people who will keep her busy on adventures and provide all the snuggles and pets that she deserves. Here’s what volunteers have said about her:

“Fawna was Dog of the Day on 2/23. She spent almost three hours in the yard greeting the public and visiting with her numerous staff and volunteer friends. She was exceptional with everyone she met, including some kids who were very excited to treat her and work on sit and down with her. Fawna was patient and had excellent manners even when the kids were excited and jumpy. I really love this gal. She’s so gentle and sweet and really deserves someone to love her unconditionally and let her blossom in a home of her own. I just know she’s going to be the best dog anyone could ask for.”

“Fawna is one precious pal! I couldn’t stop myself from fawning over Fawna today. She was happy to go on our walk and she is such a nice walker. She has a happy tail wag whenever she is praised, and it comes out in full force if treats are coming her way! It made me laugh to see her smush her whole mouth into my hand to politely nibble some biscuits. She is an absolutely phenomenal little dog full of affection.”

“Fawna is a nice walker in the park and will sit for treats and take them gently. When I was walking her today, one of her favorite staff members was in the park, and Fawna absolutely lit up when she saw her friend. She got a big smile and started wagging her tail, it was adorable! Fawna can often look serious, so it was nice to see her so happy and excited to see her pal. She is a sweet girl who just hates being in a kennel all day.”

“Once we left the kennel today, Fawna was a great walker though. Loose leash and friendly! She did her business and enjoyed sniffing as we walked together. Great girl!”

“Fawna is a sweet girl. She will lean into you for pets and is EXCELLENT on leash. She walks very gently, right by your side. She is ready for someone to love and take care of her. I think she’ll be a loving and loyal pup.”

“I walk Fawna 1-2 times weekly and she’s a great walking companion. She is always eager to get out of her kennel but settles right away and walks beautifully. I think it may take her a little while to bond with her new person, but when she does, she has so much love to share.”

Fawna loves treats and is highly food- motivated, which is great when it comes to training- and training is a great way to bond with a new pup! Fawna has been social and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Ask to meet Fawna today!!
