What’s black and white and says “moooooo”? Not our Cow since, you know… he’s a dog. He sure is a beefcake though! Cow was surrendered to PACC when his people moved to an apartment and couldn’t take him along, and he was heartbroken. He was terrified the moment he stepped foot in the shelter, but fast forward to today and Cow has gained so much confidence with the help of his volunteer friends. Here’s what they’ve had to say about this gentle giant:

“The most photogenic dog award definitely goes to this handsome boy! Cow began as a shy, nervous pup, but with time and patience, has blossomed into a confident, loving pup who leashes easily, allows petting head to tail, and gladly takes treats with a soft, gentle mouth. He’s calm on his walk and likes to take the opportunity to sniff all of the new scents outside of the shelter. He’ll sit patiently for a treat and has also learned “paw’ or “shake”. He has a gentle demeanor and is non-reactive to dogs or people on leash. He loves chew toys and can often be seen with a squeaky toy or ball in his mouth while in his kennel. During Yappy Hour (when volunteers read to the dogs) Cow is an attentive listener and generally just enjoys human company. He may be shy to begin with, but once he gets to know you, he is an absolute delight!”

“Cow always greets me with his tail wagging in the early hours of the morning. This boy is easy to leash and is a very nice walker. I take him to the yard first so he can run around a bit and have some fun. Cow enjoys sitting for treats and also will give you his paw - he can do both right and left paws. So very cute. Cow is one of the first dogs I take out and he puts me in a happy mood. He will be a great companion for someone.”

“Cow was very friendly and greeted me with a wagging tail. He took treats from my hand in the kennel and I leashed him up easily. I'm so proud of this shy guy! He's a great walker; doesn't pull and doesn't react to other dogs. He checked in with me often during the walk which is very nice. He took treats softly and I petted him a bit. He's a nice guy.”

“My first encounter with Cow I was not able to take him out as he was so timid. Fast forward to today- he takes treats from me and is ready and waiting to be taken out. Cow walks easily and effortlessly. I usually take him to a yard so he can do his own thing, but he comes over for treats and occasional physical attention.”

Cow has come so far and he’d love to find a home where he can continue to build confidence. In his most recent playgroup evaluation, Cow was appropriate, tolerant, and independent. He may benefit from a calm, confident doggy pal to show him the ropes in his future home. Ask to meet Cow today!
