Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Gourd is a handsome young boy who originally came to PACC as a stray and was briefly adopted. During that adoption Gourd was housetrained and lived with an older child. His adopters said that he loves chew toys and squeaky toys- who doesn’t?? But, that home wasn’t the right fit for Gourd, so he’s back on the market! Here’s what his volunteer friends had to say about him:

“Gourd is extremely people-oriented. He frequently checks back with his handler during play time and loves to show you his tennis ball. He is great with fetch and always gentle with handling. Even off leash in a yard, he is frequently following by my side and is easily called back when he explores. He is extremely affectionate and handles easily, whether you're moving his leg to untangle the leash or grabbing his ball to throw again. I love spending time with him!”

“Gourd loves playing fetch and has the cutest run, galloping like a little pony. He is an incredibly happy guy. He has a great smile and loves to snuggle in my arms for hugs when I pet him. He knows "sit" and "look" and happily takes treats nicely from your hand. Spending time with Gourd is bound to put a smile on your face, because this guy just grins all day. A great dog!”

“Gourd is a happy, wiggly guy. He wasn’t interested in treats in his kennel or outside, although he would happily sit just to get my attention. He is cheerful and excited about so many things like a big puppy--he wants to sniff and explore everywhere! He’s very comfortable with touch.”

“On our walk, I found Gourd to be gentle and pretty quiet. He had a lot of curious sniffs and he seems pretty social. We took a break to sit on a curb, and he immediately made his way to my lap, where he leaned his entire body weight against me. When I stopped petting him, he eagerly asked for more pets by turning around and pressing his opposite side against me. He settled down when my arms were around him, and I was surprised he wasn't too warm for snuggles considering his fluffy coat! Gourd is a fantastic partner and I'm a huge fan!”

Gourd spent a few weeks in a foster home and reportedly did great with kids and was described as super lovable. He did well meeting female dogs and also smaller dogs. He loves to play with balls and squeaky toys, play tug o’ war and loves stuffed toys too. His foster described him as friendly, super cuddly and very playful.

Gourd shares his kennel with a female pal and would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. He’s hoping for lots of toys in his forever home- and no cats! Ask to meet Gourd today!!
