Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
RESCUE ONLY DEADLINE 3PM 02/25/24
Name: Maverick
Animal ID: A752515 duplicate ID A828846 merged now
Age: 4 years
Weight: 48.60 lbs.
About: Some of you might remember Maverick, he was at PACC in 2022 and left to a rescue on a deadline. Unfortunately, Maverick is back at PACC and will be on a Rescue Only Deadline again for 3pm 02/25/24.

The owner did reach out to the rescue before bringing Maverick back to PACC, we also reached out to the rescue to let them know Maverick was here and ask if they were planning on redeeming him, sadly the rescue is full, and they are unable to reclaim.

Maverick was surrendered to PACC because he was being destructive, kept escaping and was resource guarding people in the home. Currently, we don’t have a lot of information on these behaviors, we have reached out to the previous owner and are waiting for a call back with more information. We do know that listed on the owner surrender form as a new baby, so some of these behaviors could have started after the new baby but we don’t know for sure at this time. His previous owners said that he is affectionate, loves toys, is playful and knows tricks.

In Maverick’s first home, he lived with another dog that was a small dog and did well with kiddos as young as three. Unfortunately, in this home and his most recent home Maverick didn’t have a secure yard, so his ideal home will be one that has a secure yard, and he will be monitored when outdoors. In his most recent home, he did live with a 4-year-old female dog. However, while meeting dogs in a playgroup both back in 2022 and currently, Maverick has some issues and did start an altercation, no dogs were hurt as Maverick was in a muzzle because of his previous notes. He needs to meet any resident dogs before going home to make sure it's a good fit.

This is what his current foster said: "He is a very good looking dog. Not a huge barker, non-destructive, just wants to hang out and be with you. If you're looking for a cool low maintenance friend and want to save a life, Maverick is your guy. If this boy could live in your lap, he would be the happiest dog on earth! He loves attention and will happily sit on the couch next to you or at your feet all day long if given the opportunity."
