Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Cassandra was brought to PACC having been hit by a car and suffering from gunshot wounds. As dire as the situation was, Cassandra never let it get her down. She just moved forward, simple as that. She gets around in a wheelchair these days and is a total pro a cruising the streets. Cassandra spent several months in a foster home. Her foster family adored her and said the following:
“Everything is amazing. She has a lot of strength. This silly pup tries to jump in into my arms or into bed with us. She’s a couch potato when you are, and loves to sprint when we go for runs. Not a single incident with the cats- in fact when coming home today I had both of them hugging me. Cassandra is the hardest to photograph and pictures do not do her justice. She really is such a joy and so darn cute! She HAS to have her blankie... actually ALL the blankies. She hoards them. She is a snuggle bug and is showing so much improvement with her mobility.”
Cassandra's cart is easy to use and she's patient and sweet while you help her get loaded up. Once she's in, she's ready to get out on the town, and she'll outrun you if you aren't paying attention! This girl is zippy! Paralyzed dogs can have very happy, fulfilled lives- they just need a little bit of extra help from their human friends. With an affectionate, loving dog like Cassandra, the thanks you'll get in return will make the extra effort worth it.
Cassandra hasn't been able to go to regular playgroup, but did do well in a one on one dog intro at the shelter. She was tolerant with greetings and asked for her space when needed, but was mostly excited to explore and get attention from her people friends. She's curious about other dogs when out on her walks, checking them out as she goes but then heading on her way. Ask about Cassandra today!
