Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Rod is a big, happy-go-lucky fella who was adopted from PACC back in 2021. Rod has always been a shelter favorite and while we love spending time with him, we’re definitely sad to see him back. Big energetic boys don’t belong in small shelter kennels!!

Rod’s former person said that he loves all people and is a very friendly dog. He was housebroken in his former home and loved to sleep on the comfy couch or a fluffy bed of his own. His person described Rod as a very loving boy, which is exactly what he’s shown us in the shelter!

Volunteers describe Rod as a very sweet and social boy who enjoys running and playing in the yards and will give you his BEST sit and a paw (and be ready for the force of that paw!) Rod is one of the biggest pups in the shelter and he is very strong! Here’s what some of his friends have said:

“Rod was wiggly and happy to see me when I approached his kennel today. He even did a few tippy taps on his front feet - it was adorable! He was easy to leash and leash and he walked by my side with a loose leash for the entirety of our walk together. We enjoyed each other’s company and Rod was very happy to spend time out of his kennel.”

“It made me very sad when I was told Rod was back in the shelter. I had walked him countless times in 2020/2021 and had developed a wonderful rapport with him. I was ecstatic when he was adopted. I have taken him out several times since his return and he walks rather easily. He responds very well to the command "stay" and he won't go until you tell him to. He is truly a lovely, rather large pup.”

Rod needs a strong handler in his future home and a family who will do some training with him. He also needs a secure yard where he’ll be kept home safe and sound- a flimsy wooden fence is no match for a beefy boy like this!! Rod has mixed notes with other dogs here at PACC and in his last home, so he might be best as your one and only (or would need an intro to any other pets in the house before heading home). He’s looking for a home without small dogs, cats, or other small pets. Rod is a sweet fella who just wants to get out of the shelter and into a home, for good this time.
