Rosa is a draft and Paint cross who came to LRR from a situation of neglect. We immediately noticed a scar on her left hind down the length of her cannon bone. Our vet imaged the leg and discovered that she has damage to both her pastern and coffin joints. Due to this injury she is restricted to being ridden only at a walk and on flat ground. She would be comfortable living in a pasture with rolling hills but no steep inclines.

Rosa came to Longmeadow with extreme dental neglect. She has several molars missing and will require dental exams every 6 months by a veterinarian. She will also require a senior grain, like Purina's Equine Senior, to supplement her hay and pasture.

Rosa's right eye is suspicious of pre-squamous cells but currently she only requires monitoring. Her white skin surrounding her eye is sensitive to the sun and she requires UV protection when outside. She currently wears a fly mask with added UV protection when she is outside of her stall.

Our trainer evaluated Rosa and discovered she is trained for riding. She is still adjusting to the ranch and is a bit nervous, but she is sweet and enjoys being groomed and doted on. Rosa stands like a champ for bathing and fly spray We are recommending a confident intermediate handler/rider for Rosa.
