Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Leia is another lovely senior who has found herself in the shelter after having spent most of her life in one home. In her former home, Leia slept in her own bed and enjoyed toys.

Describe cuddling behavior/affection level:
Once Leia warms up to you, she will shower you with affection! She likes to slowly walk up to
you and fix you with a loving stare before being let up on the couch to cuddle. She likes to lean
against you to get her head rubbed and back scratched then she will stretch out for a long nap
with you by her side. She lives for the small moments during the day that you will scratch her
cheeks and tell her she’s a good girl.

Describe activity level:
Leia has a medium to low activity level. She naps for a good part of the day then likes to be with
you as you move about the house cooking, cleaning, watching tv, etc. She does not get rowdy
inside the house. Leia gets excited for her walks and will give a big shake and wag as soon as
you leave the house. She quickly matches your speed on walks and has never pulled on the
leash. By the end she usually is pretty tuckered out and just wants to walk by your side sniffing
flowers and plants.

Look into the dog’s eyes. What is he/she telling you?
Leia has a very loving gaze. I think she is trying to say “I love you”, “tell me I’m a good girl”, and
“can I please come up on the couch/bed” all at once.

What are the best adjectives to describe this dog?
Loving, calm, couch potato

What are the dog’s best qualities?
Leia’s best qualities are her affection and good behavior in the house. She is relaxed for the
most part and never begs for food or jumps on guests. This combined with her walkability
provides a great base to work from. She enjoys getting treats and is a pretty quick learner. She
knows sit, getting better at stay, and goes to her bed when told.

What are your favorite things about this dog?
My favorite thing about Leia are her couch cuddles
