Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Copper is a young boy at around a year old. He is a friendly boy who bonds quickly and is very affectionate. If you're sitting, he wants to be in your lap! He already knows the sit command, and entertains himself very well with chew toys and plush toys. He has fetch down pat, but don't count on him bringing the ball back to you right away--'chase' is another favorite game! Copper also seems to have housetraining down for the most part, but may need a little more practice. He truly has such a sweet face and personality, and would make a great addition to just about any home.

He is not recommended for any homes with small children as he takes his food and toys very seriously, but really, who doesn't? As long as you don't try to take his food, treats, or toys away from him, he's a fantastic boy who would make a perfect dog for someone.

Dog Day Out:
Dog Day Out, 1/13/24:
We hiked a 2.5 mile trail at Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area...up and down and rocky in places. Copper was a trooper! He actually broke into a trot several times and had Amy and me trotting too! Walks well on leash and does well with the car ride. This beautiful and loving dog really did very well. When we came upon dogs on the trail he was interested but did not bark or growl. We loved him and want to take him out again soon!!! But I hope he gets adopted.

Dog Day Out, 11/11/23:
Copper is an energetic fun loving well behaved pup! He eagerly hopped in the car anxious to check out a new environment and get out for the day. He is a little nervous in the car if the window is down and likes to ride close to his driver, which could change with more outings of course. We walked in the fall leaves at City Park and then took advantage of a vacant dog park at Bill Cook Park in Graham. Copper likes to pick up sticks along the way and cart them around, and will fetch but good luck getting it back! He took food well when being hand fed, was eager to meet people, and loves to roll around in the leaves. Loves belly and head scratching! Copper did show some possible food aggression signs, but nothing a little training can't fix.
