DOG DAY OUT REPORT
Today I: met two new friends who took me for a drive and a nice sniffy walk! I was ready to get going and hopped in and out of the car all on my own. I enjoyed sitting in the back and looking out the window. Once we got to the park, I enjoyed a leisurely walk with lots of sniffies. I also enjoyed a good lay down and roll in the cool grass and lots of pets from my new friends. I don’t care about the other people and dogs on the trail, I just want to get my sniffs in! I also got lots of treats and showed off my tricks, including sit, down, and shake.

Three Words to Describe Me are: Calm, Gentle, Sweet
Notes from My Walker: Mika is a very sweet girl; she had no problem getting the leash and harness on and hopped right in the car. She was very good in the car sitting/laying for most of the ride and looking out the window. She is a leisurely walker who enjoys sniffing everything. She walks great on leash; she likes to be at the end of the leash but doesn’t pull. She didn’t react to other dogs or people on the trail and just wanted to get her sniffs in. She likes pets and tummy rubs and enjoyed stretching out and rolling in the grass when we took a break. She likes treats, takes them very gently, and knows sit, down, and shake/paw. Mika is a lovely girl who appreciates a slower pace of life with lots of sniffs, treats, and scratches.

Mika went with staff to an offsite adoption event. She greeted the crowd with loose body and tail wagging and received lots of petting from admirers. She took treats nicely. We also had a puppy at the event and Mika was great with the puppy.

Reason animal needs rescue: Extensive length of stay, continues to be returned to shelter from various owners. Mast cell tumor removed two weeks ago needs consistent monitoring and follow-up to monitor for signs of recurrence.
Type: Medical
Date animal needs rescue by: Middle of March ideally
Impound type: Transfer
Off stray hold: Yes
Additional notes: Mika has been at the shelter since January. She recently had a mast cell tumor removed from inside of her right leg. She is overweight and would benefit from a different environment that allows her to be more active and permits closer monitoring of her skin in case of recurrence of mast cell tumors.
