Pie is an extremely affectionate dog that has lived most of his life in the shelter. He would benefit from some training as he can be hyper but this is at no fault of his own. Having another playmate helps with his energy. Because Pie hasn’t had a lot of interactions with other dogs and been able to be a pup himself, all he wants to do is play while the other dogs are wanting to rest. Volunteer notes, 4/18/24:
We loved spending time with Hulk in the play yard today! He was calm and well-behaved on the leash. He was interested in the dogs around him but able to be redirected. He knew "sit" and took treats gently but wasn't overly treat motivated. He was active and playful but also laid down for lots of pets. Such a nice boy and very smart!

Penny got to enjoy two Dog Day Out adventures this week and both of her chaperones gave her rave reviews! One chaperone took her to South Graham Park and said, "Penny is a very sweet dog. Very affectionate and wants to be close to her person. Good with kids." On her other outing, the chaperone told us, "We went on walks and played a lot of fetch. Penny is amazing with kids; there couldn’t have been a better dog. My one year old nephew would grab the chew toy from Penny’s mouth and she would just drop it. Paradise is here to wrap up Tongue Out Tuesday. This pretty brindle girl is about 3 years old and she has been waiting very patiently for someone to come adopt her. She was surrendered due to no fault of her own and lived with another dog in her prior home. She is a sweet, loving girl and she is ready to start a new life with you!

Handsome Bambino came to us as a stray in mid June and has been a great BAS resident. He's almost 2 years old and is a happy boy (especially when a pool is involved!).

Bambino went on a hike at the beautiful Cates Farm Park in Mebane. He's one smart and friendly boy. He pulled on the leash at first and would get excitable in the car, around other dogs, and when other people passed. But he is easily corrected with some instruction on the leash. Rockafella is a good boy. He is a senior guy who has done well to meet and continue to greet the neighborhood children. He is anxious around unknown people and pets. So far, I have been unable to do much about his dislike of cats. It seems to be one of the only things that set him off. He takes 2 walks per day (am and pm), and gets to go out off leash in the back yard as often as he asks. Tank has been wonderful to have. My grandmother and I took Tank up to the pet store to get
some extra toys and treats for him. He loves to play with his toys and loves to sleep. He is a very loving and sweet dog. Tank is house trained and will let you know he needs to go out by barking and going to the door. He loves treats and enjoys Milkbone Dog Biscuits, Puperoni Sticks, and chew sticks.
