Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Bluberry is such an easy dog to be around. She’s friendly, but happy to entertain herself just by wondering around and seeing what there is to smell nearby. She loves it when you pet her though. She’s got a low energy level, so she doesn’t need much in the way of exercise. Treats get her total and complete focus. She’s eager to please when they come out and knows how to sit so beautifully on command already. She always takes her prizes gently from your hand too.

Despite being such a sweet soul, Blue berry has a sad backstory. When she came into the shelter as a stray on 4/5/24 we noticed she was lactating. We knew that meant she’d had a litter of puppies, but none could be found nearby. We also knew she had an owner out there somewhere since her ears had been cropped, and we were excited when we found she had a microchip! Unfortunately the owner never contacted us back, and the alternate contact claimed no tot know anything about the dog. The microchip had been implanted by another local shelter, so we contacted them for more info. It turns out Bluberry had come into their shelter the month before – and they confirmed she’d recently had puppies then – but was reclaimed by her owner the same day. They also mentioned one of their Animal Control Officers had seen puppies at her owners home the same week she came to us as a stray. Unfortunately, it looks like poor Bluberry was dumped while her babies were kept. It’s a very sad story, but Bluberry remains super sweet and friendly despite all she’s been through. We’re hoping she won’t have to wait very long to find her happy tail.
