Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Cala Maria needs a fospice (foster-hospice) or rescue to spring her from the shelter so she can spend the rest of her life in peace and comfort.

Cala Maria is a go with the flow kind of girl. She's so easy to get along with! If you're petting her she's thrilled to stand by your side for as long as you're available. But she's also happy to be independent and find her own fun. She's a calm girl with a lower energy level, so it doesn't take much to keep her in good spirits! Squeaky toys bring out a spark of playfulness in her which is always good fun! She's good on a leash and walks without pulling. She loves treats and will take them nicely from your hand. She’s a great house guest and was described as house trained by a previous short term foster home. She’d do great in a home with older children and has lived well with other dogs in a previous short term foster home, but she can be a little possessive of her dog bed. Otherwise, she’s very tolerant! She already knows the commands sit, lay down, and crate.

Cala Maria began having repeated nose bleeds. When our medical team flushed her nostrils out large clots and small amounts of soft tissue came out. Cala Maria would need advanced imaging and biopsy to further work up what is occupying her nasal cavity, beyond what FBCAS has the capacity to do. Based on what we know, our medical team believes she has neoplasia in both nostrils – that’s the uncontrolled, abnormal growth of cells or tissues. Unfortunately, Cala Maria probably does not have long left.
