Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Meet Marla!

Marla is a sweet big girl who came from North Carolina. She is friendly with people that she is comfortable with and enjoys her canine friends as well. Once she has had a proper introduction to a new dog, she loves to play with them, however, she is too playful for some dogs. She needs a home where she will have another dog for a playmate! Without consistent play time with other dogs, Marla feels the need to get her rough and tumble playful energy out with people by jumping and grabbing at clothing, so having another dog to play with will be critical for her. Marla's new family will need to be comfortable with a dog her size and exuberant play style, as she will be mouthy at times.

In between fun activities like playing or going for walks, Marla loves to curl up on her dog bed nudging a stuffy around with her nose. After a good romp or play date, Marla settles nicely and enjoys chilling out next to you. New things or sudden noises can make her nervous and she will seek her people for support.

She is a big adolescent dog at only 1 year old, and training classes would be a wonderful thing for her! Because Marla was transported from the south, we don't have any background about her previous home life before coming to the shelter. She was adopted out briefly and quickly returned to the shelter, as she was not getting along with the child in the home. As a result, we realize that she is afraid of children and needs an adult home. She is housetrained already.

If Marla sounds like a match for you, please stop by to meet this tall beauty! Her adopter's should be prepared to spend extra time, including multiple visits, with Marla before taking her home. This will give staff adequate time to go over Marla's needs and will allow her to warm up to her new people.

Marla's adoption fee is $450, which includes her spay surgery, microchip, vaccines and other medical care, along with a collar, leash, tag, and the costs of transporting her up from the southern rescue group.
