Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Kevin is a an athletic, high- energy dog who needs to leave the shelter as soon as possible! Some dogs do just fine in the noisy shelter environment, while others feel the stress much more acutely and really struggle. Kevin is the latter- a dog who is just not cut out to spend 23.5 hours a day in a small kennel.

In his prior life, Kevin was given from one acquaintance to another and spent about a year in a home. His person had a demanding schedule and wasn’t able to spend the time needed to provide Kevin with structure and training. Kevin reportedly did well with kids as young as five years old, though he was notorious for stealing their snacks ( I mean…who can resist a tasty treat?). He was potty trained and slept right next to his people at night. His person described Kevin as a sweetheart who just needs a family who has a bit more time for him.

Kevin has returned to the shelter after spending seven months in another home. He again did well with kiddos and was housebroken. His person said that he’s a playful boy who loves toys and likes car rides. They love Kevin very much, but their home wasn’t quite the right fit. Could your home be the right forever home for Kevin??

Here's what Kevin’s volunteer friends have said:

“I really like this smart boy and he has so much potential, especially when not under the constant stress of shelter life. Today we worked on impulse control during our walk. Kevin would automatically jump on a picnic table and I would reward him when he showed calm behavior. With each repetition Kevin remained calmer. I also worked with Kevin on “leave it” with a treat in my hand that he needed to ignore before I treated him from the other hand.”

“Since it's been between 104 and 110 for the last week, Kevin and I always go to a shaded play yard. He wanders a bit and comes to me often for love and treats. Usually after 6-7 minutes, he gently climbs into my lap to give me a face lick. Kevin is a sweetheart of a pup.”

Kevin has lived with other dogs and was social and tolerant, if a bit forward with his greetings during his most recent evaluation with other shelter pups. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit and is looking for a home without cats. Please ask about Kevin today!!
