KIKO - ID#A736278

My name is Kiko.

I am a neutered male, white and tan Akita.

The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 3 months old.

I have been at the shelter since Aug 10, 2023.

This information was refreshed 8 hours ago and may not represent all of the animals at the Juneau Animal Rescue.
Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Meet Kiko!

Kiko is a handsome, young, and active American Akita. Akitas are very intelligent, independent thinkers with strong characters; which means they are not the best choice for first-time dog owners.
Quick to learn new things, they need to be handled and trained using a gentle but firm hand. They do not respond well to any sort of harsh training or correction, but they do respond well to positive reinforcement. With the right approach, you will have a companion for life.
Akitas are large, strong and bred with genetics to protect and therefore can be territorial with a strong prey drive.

*Kiko is not interested in sharing his space or time with other animals and must be your only pet.

*It is essential that Kiko’s training starts early, and must be consistent and continue throughout his life.

*Kiko will not be best suited for apartments, condos or small children. Potential adopters must be aware this is a dog with lots of hair and must be okay with it being everywhere!

Animal visitation is available every day except Tuesday, from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. Closed Sundays.
