This beauty’s name is Ivy! Ivy came to Longmeadow in 2023 and, like a lot of horses that find their way to the Ranch, she was in desperate need of medical care and farrier treatments. Ivy was severely underweight and not used to being handled by humans. It didn’t take long for Ivy to step out of her shell, however. As soon as she started to gain weight and got used to the presence of humans, Ivy’s true personality began to show!

Once Ivy was an appropriate weight, she was evaluated by our trainer. Upon evaluation, we found that Ivy was previously trained under saddle. While at Longmeadow, she has been ridden at a walk and trot in our indoor arena. She has a forward ride and understands neck reining to a degree. She has taken some time to settle into Ranch life and can get a little distracted while working, but Ivy loves having a job. When she does focus on a task, she seems to enjoy the mental work! She is currently working on standing nicely for our farrier.

Ivy has come such a far way since she arrived at Longmeadow. Her Arabian face and beautiful coat make her a stunner for the right person. We think she will do best with a confident, intermediate rider and handler to help her progress along to be the best she can be.
