Hello sirs and madams, my name is Sir Pogglesworth.
Please excuse me if I am a bit timid with you. I promise I am quite a friendly young man. I am motivated by treats and I will take them quite nicely. I'm working on my shyness so I am a bit touchy with the leash, mind you. I am sure that could be changed with time if you so choose to take me home with you. Please inquire within if you would like to make an appointment to meet me.
I also went on a doggie day out adventure with a volunteer on 5/11! Here is what they had to say
"We took Sir Pogglesworth to Land Park, where we walked around and explored and then lay on the grass and listened to a concert. He was quick to bond to us, seemed very comfortable watching people and dogs go by (no vocalizing or anxiety with either!), and loved lying next to us and being pet. We were impressed by how quickly he settled in a public place and how at ease he was with us.
He is incredibly sweet, and though he's only a year old, he has the calm and groundedness of an older dog. He was attentive to us, curious about the world around him, good on leash, and very comfortable being handled. He likes to be near you, but isn't needy and doesn't ask for attention. He loves to be pet and rolled over for a belly rub a few times and seemed to enjoy that. He did great in the car, laying down quickly and relaxing in the back seat. He seemed a little timid getting in the car at first, but we lured him in with a treat and he got more comfortable each time we got back in the car so we think he'd learn this routine quickly.
After the park, we went back to hang out in our backyard. He took a minute to take in his surroundings and sniff and settled in quickly. He's a great retriever, and knows how to run to get a toy and then bring it back and give it to you so you can throw it again. He was great at sharing his toys with us . We don't think he knows any commands (yet!) but he seems very smart and is treat motivated so we think he'd be a fast and eager learner.
After playing for a few minutes, he lay down on the grass and napped on and off for a couple hours. Sometimes he'd wake up and go grab a toy and quietly chew on it. Sir Pogglesworth seems like a medium energy dog who could be a chameleon—we think he could do well in a more active home or one where he'd be your work-from-home buddy or an office dog since he can entertain himself, is quiet and respectful, and is comfortable around people.
Sir Pogglesworth is an incredibly sweet dog and so adoptable. With his gentle sweet nature, we think he'd be a great addition to any household. We made a video of our adventure today so you can see him for yourself."
