Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Hello, my name is Marie, I am 40 pounds and full of energy. The shelter originally called me Burnt Toast, which is actually a good alias for my future instagram influencer account. I am about 2 years old but I have the heart of a puppy. I love meeting people, dogs of all sizes, and… even cats. I am rumored to have broken the Myer-Briggs personality test as an extreme extrovert… I’m working on it though :)

Energy level: Marie is ready to go no matter what the activity. She will play for hours, but at the same time is quite good on leash. She definitely enjoys and benefits from daily physical activity. At home she has settled in and is calm indoors.

Dogs: She is very friendly with dogs, however may be too playful for some dogs. She likes to wrestle and to interact with dogs she meets. Some dogs may not appreciate it. She has not shown any aggressiveness or resource guarding, and seems quite tolerant. She could be a good companion for another active dog looking for this type of playmate.

Cats: She mostly ignores cats but will want to play with a running cat. Proper introductions and monitoring are always important.

Kids/people: Marie can get excited and jumpy when meeting people, mainly when they baby-talk her and get her excited. She also sometimes uses her mouth, but gently. With young children, this can be a bit much. Marie has come a long way with her manners in just 2 weeks and improves with guidance. She does tolerate handling and absorbs endless pets.

Alone time: She seems to do very well alone, no crying or barking. She may look for interesting things to get into, but respects kiddie gates and can be isolated to a specific area. Like any dog, mental and physical stimulation makes for more restful alone time.

Housebreaking: She has made great strides here after her first week. She has the infrequent accident still, in specific areas of the house. So it seems she just needs to learn to alert her parents when she needs to go out.

Marie is quickly learning to control her puppy-like impulses. She is very smart, attentive, and has listened well to direction. Her happy-go-lucky and friendly personality means she will blossom into a wonderful companion, one who wants to be friends with everyone and everything she meets.
