Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Vivian is a quarter-type mare who is friendly & kind. She came to the ranch a few years ago severely emaciated & suffering from over grown hooves, a heavy load of external & internal parasites, and severe dental neglect. While at the ranch, she gained over 200 lbs, has been treated for her parasites, feet trimmed, teeth floated, and adopted out! She was recently returned at no fault of her own and is ready for her new forever home. Vivian has previous training under saddle and is a solid walk/trot mare. We are currently working with her to improve her ground manners, as she can be quite pushy. She is confident when riding outside and on the trails. Due to some age appropriate arthritis, the vet does not recommend her for any athletic activities. We recommend Vivian for an active retirement home where she will still be lightly ridden. Vivian would do best with an intermediate rider and handler to continue correcting her poor ground manners.
Vivian can no longer chew hay, as her teeth have worn down with age. She requires a supplemental diet with chopped alfalfa in order to receive the needed forage. She also requires a maintenance dose of BioSponge to help keep her stool regular.
Adoption fee: $300
Height: 14.3 HH
