We know from experience that blind dogs not only survive, they thrive! Meet sweet Seline. She's back at the shelter now, but she spent time in a foster home and here is what they had to say about her:
"Seline is truly one of the sweetest and well behaved dogs that I have been around, and she is such a character! She is blind but since we have had her since April, she has learned to navigate around the house and backyard (but definitely still bumps into things but she handles it like a champ! Lol). She is diabetic and requires insulin twice a day, but it is so easy to do and she sits like a perfect angel when we're giving it to her.
She has been around cats at her last foster and I believe did well with them. She has been living with my dog who is a smaller Beagle/Dachshund mix and they get along and will play occasionally. I did introduce her to my mom and sisters dogs, both males, one is a pitbull and one a German Shepherd - and she seemed a little nervous around them, so maybe a house with smaller dogs or no other dogs would be best for her.
We do not have her in a crate ever, and she is great in the house and has never destroyed anything other than her toys. She gets on the furniture only when invited on, but absolutely loves her orthopedic bed I, and will lounge on it and chew on her toys all day long. She does prefer to be in the same room as you when you are home. She also loves to go on short walks, but is strong on the leash. I have also learned that she loves to play in the water!"
When Seline met others dogs at PACC she was social, appropriate and tolerant. She explored the play yard on her own but was also interested in the other dogs. She also enjoyed playing in the water! Plase ask about fostering ro adopting this very deserving dog!!
