Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Max our one and a half year old 95 pound (so far!) Catahoola, Great Dane mix is looking for a very, very special home. Before you pick up the phone to inquire or jump in your car to come meet him please read below...

We have taken Max under our wing because he arrived on our doorstep very fearful and undersocialized. We observed that during his encounters with unfamiliar people he would cower and try to run away and bark excessively. However during his time here Max has responded well to our training; we have him out walking and enjoying time outside in our play yard, he plays with other dogs and also enjoys quiet time in our mutli-purpose room. He meets new people and is learning that there is nothing for him to be afraid of especially because hot dogs come out when new people are around! Max has come a long way and is looking for a very special home where he will get the attention he needs to help him settle in. Because of his fearful behavior a quiet home is required with no children or future children and infrequent visitors. His adopters have to be committed to taking over the training that we have started here so Max can live a full and happy life without being so fearful of people. If there is another dog that is friendly and social with people and dogs alike, that would be a bonus - they have to be able to keep up with Max's exuberant size of course! Cats and small creature compatibility is unknown.

If you are interested in giving Max the special care and attention he needs please come by our Dedham location and meet him today!

Max is currently up to date on all vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and has been seen by our veterinarian. If you are interested in learning more about her or any of our other adoptable animals, please stop by and visit anytime during our open hours of 1:00pm-6:30pm, Tuesday-Sunday, or call our Dedham shelter at (781) 326-0729.
