Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Pearl is an exuberant 1 year old large breed mix from North Carolina. She is an outgoing girl who is always up for a good romp around the yard, a fun hike, or a nice walk around the neighborhood. After getting her exercise, she is content to lounge on her bed and supervise, preferably chewing a toy. She can be a jumpy girl and can be mouthy when she gets overly playful or excited, which is often! Because of her size and exuberant energy, she is looking for a home with older teens and up, as she would be too much for youngsters.
Pearl gets along with certain other dogs but can be choosy. She really enjoys play dates with her canine friends, and other dogs she does not seem to care for. Please bring your dog along to meet Pearl, so we can see if they hit it off.
We have limited information on her in a home setting, as she was adopted out briefly by a family but returned after growling at the people in the home. Aside from that, we only know what we have seen of Pearl here at the shelter. Pearl does seem to keep her kennel nice and clean here, suggesting she may be housetrained. She has been outgoing with new people out for walks or in the kennel. While she has been fine meeting kids out for walks, her new home cannot have kids under 16.
Pearl came from North Carolina. Her adoption fee is $450, which includes her spay surgery, microchip, vaccines and other medical care, along with a collar, leash, tag, and the costs of transporting her up from the southern rescue group. Interested adopters should be prepared to spend extra time, including multiple visits meeting with shelter staff to discuss Pearl's behaviors.
Pearl is looking for dog experienced people that can help decipher her quirks in a home environment. She will be well suited to a home where she will get plenty of exercise and play time (romping with a canine friend would be great too!) and learn that it is inappropriate to jump and grab at people. Obedience classes would be great to accompany structure and consistency in her life. If you're ready to commit to helping this tall girl blossom into a proper lady, please stop by to meet her!
