SHADOW - ID#A239205

My name is Shadow and I am a spayed female, tricolor German Shepherd Dog.

The shelter staff think I am about 4 years old.

I have been at the shelter since Aug 30, 2017.

This information is less than 1 hour old.
Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Please watch a short video of Shadow below:
07/25/17 19:20 Shadow endeared herself to us from the start by sweetly seeking attention and appeasingly showing us her belly for rubbing. She fetches balls, dropped them at the assessor's feet, and made no complaints about the assessor taking the ball out of her mouth as part of the assessment (We normally recommend trading for another toy or a treat). She did not guard food during her assessment from humans, either. Walking through the shelter, Shadow wanted to greet many people, women and men, and did so quietly without jumping on them. She initially wouldn't bark at other dogs in the kennels, but has started, which happens pretty often with German Shepherds in kennels. During her dog introductions, Shadow would bark at other dogs at a fence and on leash to some extent, but once we dropped the leashes, she co-existed well with an intact male Husky in the yard and did pretty well with a small intact male poodle on leash. She was tolerant of having her feet handled, teeth checked, and enjoyed being pet. She does not seem like an extremely high energy or highly vigilant shepherd, but she'll still need daily exercise. Shadow is best suited to more country or mountain living where she won't be barking at dogs from a front window or be seeing many dogs on walks she might bark at. She would do best as the only dog. The right adoption fit will adore her affection and loyalty. CJB
