My name is Zip* and I am a neutered male, white and black Border Collie.

The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 2 months old.

I have been at the shelter since Mar 06, 2017.

This information is less than 1 hour old.
Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Please watch a short video of Zip and his littermate below:
Zip came to the shelter with his siblings and may have lived outside. He has been friendly and tolerant with his handlers, but can
fearful in some situations. Border Collies tend to be sensitive and can be prone to being more worried about some things, especially
some noises. If they were not socialized well as puppies, they can also be afraid of many things we think of as normal. Zip takes
time to warm up to dogs and has walked and played with a few of them at the shelter. He will require a patient, calm adopter. Border
Collies are bred to work with someone and tend to be very in tune with their owners. They tend to be extremely sensitive to things
like raised voices, whether the voice is raised at them or someone else, and Zip will be no exception. Coercive training including
choke, prong, and electric collars and any kind of physical punishment should not be used with Zip and run a high risk of making him
profoundly fearful. He did not guard canned food from a person during his assessment (we recommend leaving a dog alone when they are
eating) but does have extreme food guarding tendencies with other dogs so should be the only dog in his new home. Zip should be a
good match for an adopter who is very calm, wants a close connection with their dog, and can provide Zip with a lot of exercise.
Zip is in a foster home right now, a lot less of a hectic place than the adoption kennels, where he will continue to build
confidence. CJB
