SHEP - ID#A232867

My name is Shep and I am a neutered male, white German Shepherd Dog mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 2 years and 1 month old.

I have been at the shelter since Aug 30, 2017.

This information is 1 hour old.
Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
08/30/17 18:54 From my current foster mom: "Shep a very loving guy and really enjoys laying next to you and getting pets. Great with other dogs in our home. He plays chase, tug of war and wrestles around on the floor with our 3 year old dog. He also respects our older dog's wish to not play and gives loving sniffs in the morning as a greet and then moves on. Would do best in a home with another dog who likes to play and socialize.

Not good with hens and squirrels. No experience with a cat at our house but I would not trust him with one outside. He can jump a 3-4 foot fence and gate. Enjoys laying in the backyard. He will bark at dogs walking by in our front yard so we keep him in the back if he is loose.

Loves car rides and walks. When you see him run in play his speed would not suggest only 3 legs. He does enjoy walks to and tires after about 20-30 minutes.

He knows all the basic commands and will perform for treats as long as he is not overly interested in a new dog nearby. He loves his crate and is crate trained. He prefers to sleep in it during the day with the door open.

Loves being with people. He is crated when I am gone as he does get into minor mischief if any food is on the counter or something he finds interesting. I think he would have some separation anxiety if left alone with out other dogs and not crated.

He is stubborn and will often just stop on a walk if he wants to go another way or greet a dog. Having a harness with a handle on the back has been very helpful to move him along. He also "talks" to us when he wants something and can be quite sassy."
