Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
How lucky am I? I am being cared for off site by some awesome animal lovers in the FAMU Farm Program and will return to the shelter for adoption around mid-November.
What is the FAMU Farm Program?
This is a new partnership with the Veterinary Technology Program at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU). Animals are selected to spend time at the new state-of-the-art Veterinary Technology Teaching Center located at the FAMU Farm. While residing at the Center, animals will be cared for by the veterinary technology students and faculty veterinarians, and will receive any medical and surgical treatment that they may need. This unique partnership will help provide advanced veterinary care to animals that we might not otherwise be able to provide, as well as additional behavioral information about how these animals behave outside of our chaotic shelter environment.
Why can't I take the animal home now? I am ready to adopt!
Our selection process for animals chosen to go through the program is an intensive and long process. Animals are pre-screened for the program several weeks before they actually leave. They are chosen for their ability to get along with other animals and people, as well as any special medical needs they may have. Once they have been selected, they are "locked in."
Can I visit the animals at the farm?
The Center does not allow visits by potential adopters. This is to ensure the safety and security of our animals, as well as the students.
How do I adopt?
Submit an application to email@example.com! One of our program coordinators will contact you shortly with your application's status. Approved applicants will be put on a waiting list in the order received. Don't be discouraged if many people are interested in the same animal you want; sometimes people change their mind and may choose not to adopt when the animal returns from the program.
