Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
Mia is a beautiful, spirited German Shepherd mix about 2 years in age and 75 pounds. Once you've earned Mia's trust, her friendship, loyalty, playfulness, creativity and affection all bloom. She's a quick learner and enjoys everything from fetch to mind challenges, including those associated with training. (Her strong food motivation is also helpful with training.) It may take miss Mia a minute to warm up to strangers, whether people or other animals. After 5 months in the shelter, she's moved to a foster home where according to her fosters, "it's been delightful to watch her grow confident and comfortable, including playing with a much smaller dog, for whom she handicaps herself and even role reverses, so that it's sometimes the small dog who's chasing the big one, an amusing sight not unlike watching a fox chase a wolf." With a trusted companion, she walks well on leash. Despite her initial aloofness, she is secretly quite sentimental, both offering and seeking displays of affection. She's also content, however, to quietly do her own thing while you do yours, provided you don't mind being checked on every now and then.

Mia’s adoption fee has been waived. She is spayed and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations. A licensing/microchip fee may apply.

Mia is currently resting in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting with her, please email: newhope@sfhumanesociety.org
