Meet Simon! This handsome boy is so sweet and intelligent. He knows sit, is highly motivated by being around other people, and gets along with other dogs.

Foster notes, 4/9/24:
Simon has been with us for 2 full months now, and his personality has really come out! He is a very sweet dog who loves people but will choose someone to be His person. He is a high-energy and athletic dog and would be a fantastic companion for a runner, hiker, or someone who does dog sports. I think he could easily learn agility or scent work. He does have an off switch! I work from home, and he is willing to lay quietly by my desk for a few hours at a time in between activity sessions. Lots of toys keep Simon happy and prevent him from chewing on things he shouldn't. He prefers toys that he can tear apart, especially ones with squeakers! If you are an active person that wants a smart, friendly dog that will be your constant companion, this is the right dog for you.
Simon has not had an inside accident in a few weeks now! He is fully crate trained, but will bark if he is crated and he can hear you. We crate him at night and when we are not home. Simon is very smart. He knows how to sit, lay down, and we are working on roll over. He still pulls on the leash, but we have been working on it and he has gotten much better and no longer pulls constantly. Simon would do best in an active home with another large dog and no cats. He loves to play but does play rough, so I would not recommend a home with a small dog. He will require frequent walks or a 6 foot fence.

According to volunteers and fosters, Simon:
- Enjoyed meeting new people
- Was loving and affectionate
- Walked well on leash, but is still working on leash manners
- Did well with the car ride
- Has met and did well with other dogs
- Chases cats/small animals
- Does well with small children
- Is crate trained

Dog Day Out, 2/10/24:
We took Simon out today for a short hike at Town and Country Nature Park, and then to get ice cream at Smitty’s. He was absolutely perfect! He wanted to say hi to everyone he met, and was very well behaved on the leash. In the car, he either sits calmly or lays down for the ride. He had no problems with my son (age 11) and he preferred attention over treats. Simon would be a wonderful family dog, or a go everywhere dog.
