Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Reason animal needs rescue: Bilateral severe luxating patellas requiring surgical intervention for best quality of life.
Type: Medical
Date animal needs rescue by: ASAP
Impound type: Stray
Off stray hold: Yes
Additional notes: Extremely sweet and friendly female adult dog with bilateral luxating patellas (knee caps) resulting in pain and difficulty moving. Would greatly benefit from at least one of her knees having surgical repair, but this type of surgery is beyond the scope of care of our shelter. No behavior concerns, otherwise appears healthy. Most recent bloodwork results below (all values within normal limits). Will perform OVH and updated bloodwork once rescue is secured.

Hi! I'm Bryson and one of the sweetest little pitties you'll ever meet! I know, we pit bulls get a bad rap, but I really am gentle and kind. Officers have been able to touch me all over, lift my paws, examine my ears, give me full body hugs, and I don't mind it. I know "sit" and am potty trained too. I will take treats from your palm, and haven’t shown any resource guarding when I have my food, toys, and treats. As far as animals at the shelter I ignore the other dogs in the kennel when I am walking by and ignore the small animals and kittens when we stop by a room. That said, I haven't been officially tested with other dogs just yet so you might want to ask for a dog to dog meet up if you're interested. People handling me find I am very polite, and handler focused; I'll look to you for direction and take correction on leash. I also tolerate clothes and will pose for a photo!

Now I have a few things going against me- I can look really scary sometimes because I am a "smiler", or a submissive snarler. I'm not aggressive, but I will show my teeth sometimes when I want to be submissive towards you. People have handled me invasively while I am "smiling" and so far, I haven't reacted negatively at all (if anything I'm excited, I get more attention).

Secondly, and most importantly, I need lifelong medication to be comfortable. I have a chronic condition that requires pain medication and anti-inflammatories to keep me comfortable. When I don’t have them, I can't walk. I would also benefit from surgery. So, I'm a bit of a commitment. But I'll pay it back ten-fold with all the love and pep in my step.

Are you a rescue someone looking for a good girl? Or a person ready to take on my lifestyle? Contact the shelter and let's have a date!
