Upon further investigation and discussion among the management team, we have decided to remove Randy's U/U status and reclassify him as a dog that is still in need of rescue urgently but will not have a euthanasia date at this time. Randy does display barrier frustration at his kennel door, he will grumble initially when put into the yard and after some time he stops. He is not directing his vocalization at anyone or anything in particular. He takes time to warm up in the play yard but he is very interested in fetch. He will become affiliative once he starts playing with the ball and adjusts to his surroundings. He allowed full invasive handling. Walks well on a leash and he knows a few basic commands. He has done well meeting like sized dogs. He is older than initially thought and may have weakness in his hindlegs. Due to these factors, he will be still be on our urgent rescue list and he will be available for adoption with a waiver explaining his behaviors witnessed in shelter. Summary of Behavior:

Dog has displayed unpredictable behavior during shelter stay. Dog is not consistently affiliative with staff and displays conflicting behaviors. Dog would walk around wagging tail, then give handler a hard stare and low growl. This dog allows little to no handling. We are unable to complete handling due to stiff body posture and growling when attempting to restrain. We are concerned that this dog is a high bite risk in this environment.

The dog's behavior falls under the WeCare Pet Evaluation Matrix below:

U/U - Aggression: High Risk of Injury to Person or Animals
At high risk of causing harm to a person or animal without provocation.
This animal is a danger to staff and the public.

We do not have the resources available to care for this pet with these specific needs at this time.

Path Forward:

***Randy's final commitment date has been extended to 3/18/24 at 5:00 P.M. *****

Rescue must commit and *pull* dog by 5 PM on 03/12/24, Randy will be humanely euthanized. Rescue will also need to have a waiver signed and submitted prior to leaving with the dog.

Front of kennel, growling. Able to leash and take out. However, unable to safely complete handling at this time due to unpredictable behavior. Dog would walk around wagging tail, then gave handler a hard stare and low growl.

When doing eval dog was sniffing around and eventually came up to me as i took a knee and urinated on leg then growled and walked away.Unpredicable behavior.

Large Dog Observation Notes:
Intake Type: Stray
Sociability: Uninterested in handler, more focused on environment. Began to growl at handler.
Handling: Unable to complete handling due to stiff body posture and growls when attempting to restrain.

Kennel Presence: Front of kennel, growling and jumping at kennel door. Able to leash and take out.
Additional Notes: Unpredictable behavior, while out in the yard. Would come up to handler wagging tail, but then would growl right after.

Lip licking, tucked tail, ears pinned back. Gave a low growl when attempting to give a biscuit
