This dog is currenlty in foster, please reach out to sjfoster@sanjoseca.gov and include his ID (A1307456) if you are interested in meeting him

From his foster:
Dallas loves his people and you’ll be lucky when he accepts you into his circle of trust after a few meetings and lots of yummy treats. Like many dogs, Dallas will alert you to anything scary around the home, no need for security cameras! Dallas will be your shadow, ready to join you for anything you may be doing when you get up from your desk. He will probably stick to you like glue, as he isn't really aware of “personal space”. As a suspected Malinois-mix, Dallas lives up to the breed’s nickname “Maligator” and his foster parents lovingly call him “Daligator”. This means that Dallas plays and communicates with his mouth. In addition, the suspected Malinois breed in Dallas makes him very athletic with a love for running fast. Dallas is highly intelligent and needs daily mental enrichment. He is very food motivated, eager to complete tasks, and a pretty fast learner, which makes him very fun to train. Dallas needs a quiet and understanding home that will continue to work with him on his sensitivity to sudden/loud noises, new environments, new people (males in particular), and some body handling. Despite his sensitivities, when he has a safe environment, Dallas has such a zest for life! He gets so excited for mundane things like eating meals and being let out in the yard. It's hard not to smile at his bouncy energy. Dallas is looking for a patient, kind, and active family to provide him a forever home that wouldn’t think to even raise their voice towards him (he loves happy talk!)

Dallas has improved with many things since arriving into foster care in September of 2023. He has improved with potty training and being left home alone - he can be left home alone for several hours with no potty accidents. Gabapentin during alone time has helped him settle easier. Dallas can now be alone through the night, closed out of the bedroom. He is very food motivated, eager to complete tasks, very intelligent, and a pretty fast learner, which makes him very fun to train. He did well with mat training and crate training. His confidence has grown during neighborhood walks and he has gotten used to the noisy neighbors around the foster home apartment. Dallas redirects fairly well when he gets excitable. He is not destructive in the home, although he loves to shred toys and cardboard when given the opportunity. Dallas does well with nail trims with cooperative care. Dallas plays well with other dogs and responds well to their body language. Dallas is actively working on separation training
