Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
With a shelter full of Lord of the Rings fans we wouldn’t give out a name like Samwise unless the dog absolutely deserved it…and this dog does! The character is full of praise from places like Audible and LitCharts. “Sam represents a kind of heroism that we’re all capable of. He is good, humble, unselfish, and tender hearted.” “His simple, earnest, and relentlessly pragmatic attitude is of great comfort to his fellow hobbits, and balances Frodo’s melancholy…” Those character analyses could just as well be about Samwise the dog, because they describe him perfectly!

Our Samwise is very sweet with everyone around him, including other dogs. He loves having playmates, but enjoys taking breaks to come and get pets from you too. He’s got a low to average energy level. Typical hobbit, he loves his treats. He has yet to turn down a treat or a meal! He doesn’t know any tricks yet, but he always takes treats gently from your hand. Samwise is 2YO and has been patiently waiting since 10/24/23 for a family to start their great adoption adventure with him. He makes a great companion – bit it to go on a grand odyssey with or just snuggling on the couch.
