Unlike a shelter or humane society, our dogs are not in one central location, but spread throughout many foster homes across the state. We realize that this makes it difficult to 'come meet our dogs,' but we believe the one-on-one care our dachshunds receive is well worth the inconvenience.

We will work with you to schedule a meet and greet with one or more of our dogs that are determined to be a good match for you and your family.

UPDATE:

He's proving to be very well-behaved and friendly. Buster has adjusted beautifully to my house, following me everywhere and always staying close by my feet. He is house-trained with no accidents, behaves excellent with other dogs and people, and even has a calming influence on the neighbor's constantly barking dog.

When I'm away, I use a Furbo dog camera to monitor him, and he does seem anxious, often barking and howling for a while after I leave.

Hi everyone, my name is Buster and I am very new to Rescue.  My owners passed away and me and brother were taken to a shelter in North Texas.  I thought we would stay together but another Rescue group came in and took my brother and left me because they said I was Dachshund Mix.  I was so very sad to be left behind but more so to be taken from my brother.  But here I am and I want to let you know that I am ok and I am now looking for my forever home.  I finishing up with all my vetting and then I am ready to go.  If you think I would fit into your family, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org.
