Unlike a shelter or humane society, our dogs are not in one central location, but spread throughout many foster homes across the state. We realize that this makes it difficult to 'come meet our dogs,' but we believe the one-on-one care our dachshunds receive is well worth the inconvenience.

We will work with you to schedule a meet and greet with one or more of our dogs that are determined to be a good match for you and your family.

UPDATE:

Ginger is 15 pounds fun-loving, squirrel-chasing, snuggling joy who is ready to bound into your heart. She has never met a human stranger (she's friendly and eager to meet new people), but can be defensive around larger or enthusiastic dogs. Given a few minutes to get to know new furry friends, any dog can be her buddy. Ginger sleeps in a crate at night but would be thrilled to burrow under your covers for mutual warmth. She is very affectionate and enjoys being held, cuddled, and exchanging kisses. She is enthusiastic about car rides and walks with a leash, eagerly sniffing every tree and fencepost for places to leave her mark. Her personality leans towards dominant around other dogs. Ginger is currently in a home with no other dogs. She entertains herself by spending most of her time outdoors where she patrols the backyard for squirrels, rats, and other small animals. When she meets a cat, she seems to want to chase the cat. She has a high prey drive, but we believe that with the right feline trainer, she could learn to respect the cat.

Ginger3 is the newest arrival to CTDR.  She was surrendered by her owners after the landlord would not let them keep her.  She is fully vetted and is ready for either a foster home or a forever home.  Could her forever home be with you?  If so, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org.
